Bertram E. Kelley, 93, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2021 at L+M Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Alice E. (Gaudreault) Kelley and son Michael. Surviving is his son, Peter of Noank and daughters Martha Emery of Anson ME and Karol Bragdon of Montville. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Grampa" and "Beepa."
Bert had served in the US Navy from 1947 to 1955 as a sonar tech and served in the Korean War. He was very active in the fire community, being a life member of both Noank and Oakdale Fire Departments where he was active in fire police. He was an active member of both the Pequot Fire Police Association and New London County Fire Chief's Association. He also loved Snoopy, Nascar and the Groton 99 Restaurant.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 18, at 1:00pm at Noank Baptist Church, with a reception to follow. Burial will be private at a later date. Donations may be made to the Noank Fire Department.
