Obituary

WESTON: Paul Joseph DiBenedetto, 78, died peacefully surrounded in the care and love of his family on Monday, August 30, 2021 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Boston on October 26, 1942 the son of the late Carmine DiBenedetto and Mary H. (Abruzzi) DiBenedetto.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan (Hobbs) DiBenedetto of Weston. Devoted father of Christopher P. DiBenedetto and his wife Kristen Scott of Framingham and Tricia M. Cullen and her husband Bob of Westford. Cherished grandfather of Payson DiBenedetto, Jake Cullen, Carter DiBenedetto, Mia Cullen and Chase DiBenedetto. Brother of Thomas DiBenedetto of Tewksbury and Donna Driscoll of Newton. Brother-in-law of Taffi Hughes and her husband Jim of Boylston and Dave Hobbs and his wife Beverly of Eastham. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Paul has been a life long resident of Weston. He received his BA in Finance from Curry College and his Masters in Economics from Northeastern University. He has a distinguished career as the Supervisory Compliance Examiner with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Banking for over 41 years, retiring in 2010.
He was an active member of the Newton Lodge 1327 of the B.P.O. Elks and was a Past Exalted Ruler (2006) and was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
He enjoyed gardening at his Weston home and was a former member of the softball league for the Weston Police Department. He served the Town of Weston as a Call Firefighter with the Weston Fire Department. For many years, he was a referee for Joe Guido Basketball in Wayland. He also was a Coach for the youth football, baseball, basketball and soccer Wayland-Weston combined programs.
He was an outgoing and well liked individual who always gave of his time and talents to encourage and support others.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Julia Parish, 374 Boston Post Road Weston. You may also go directly to church.
Interment will follow in the DiBenedetto family lot in Linwood Cemetery in Weston.
Masks are required for all in attendance at St. Julia Church and are optional for vaccinated guests at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that gifts in Paul’s memory may be sent to Dr. David Jackman’s Research, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, POB 849168, Boston, MA 02284 and would be greatly appreciated.
