Obituary

Mr. Robert P. West (Bob), age 96, beloved father of six, and longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021 at the Academy Manor Rehab in Andover, MA. He was the beloved husband of the recently late Elizabeth A. (Bruno) West for over 60 years.

He was born in Boston during March of 1925, the only child of the late Herbert and Edna (Warwick) West and was raised in the Roxbury neighborhood of the city. He enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and served as a radio operator. He was also a guitarist in the 8th AAF Radio Squadron Mobile's Band. He earned an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal during his enlistment and was honorably discharged after the war.

He and Elizabeth moved to Tewksbury in 1961 to raise their family. Robert was an extremely gifted pianist, writing many songs and musicals with his wife. Their passion for music was passed on to his entire family. Robert was a talented calligrapher, artist and technical illustrator. He finished his career as a pressman for Duprin Copy Center in Woburn until retirement.

He leaves behind his sons: Michael West of South Sutton, NH, Robert A. West of Londonderry, NH, David West of Merrimack, NH, Daniel West of Tewksbury, MA, James (and his wife Lori) West of Sanford, NC and William West of Tewksbury, MA. He was also the grandfather of the late Steven M. West of Wilmington, MA.

He will be buried with full military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Cape Cod on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. all are welcome to attend.

All other memorial celebrations will be held on a later date.
