CLEMENT A. SILVA
Clement “Clem” Silva, formerly of Provincetown, danced into eternity surrounded by humorous memories and love on August 27, 2021. Clem, the son of Clement S. and Ursula M. Silva, was born in Wareham, MA on July 27, 1951.
The former owner of Clem & Ursie’s Restaurant and Seafood Market in Provincetown, Clem started his cooking career at the age of 6, after a day of oystering by his grandfather’s side. This was the day he made his 1st oyster stew. He continued his culinary education with the help of his grandmother, who taught him how to fry Portuguese Christmas treats to a golden brown. He went on to chef at the Clambake Restaurant, and eventually undertook his “Ultimate Starship Adventure” at Clem and Ursie’s where everything he loved came to fruition. He was blessed to gather a superior staff of collective talent and fed thousands of friends and tourists for 14 of the best years of his life.
Clem was known for his raucous laughter, quick wit, love of cooking, recipes, gathering friends for a good meal or sharing stories, and being “Uncle Clemmy” to many young ones. He would be pleased to know that others are laughing as hilarious memories are shared. Clem made everything from scratch, and often received requests from patrons for his delicious corn bread recipe. He said it was now time to share the secret ingredient … “just add water”.
Clem was predeceased by his parents, his amazing brother Gary Silva, and his most trusted companion, his dog “Fatty”. He is survived by his two sisters, Susan Medina and her husband Kedeen Morgan, Debra Stewart and her husband Garth, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughter, Emily Malcolm of Lithuania, and many beloved friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a future time. If you would like to donate in Clem’s memory, please consider: AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, www.asgcc.org under DONATE.
