Obituary

John H. Shealey, 73, of Brunswick, Georgia, died Friday, August 27, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick, Georgia.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Storman Glass and the Rev. Tim Moorhouse officiating.

Mr. Shealey was born May 5, 1948, in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Herbert James Shealey and the late Audrey Wright Shealey Cyr. He was a 1967 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. John was a United States Marine and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War era. He worked as a machinist for Delco-Remy in Fitzgerald and transferred to Olathe, Kansas with his work. Following his retirement, he moved to California to be near his children and worked as a project manager for Dreyers Ice Cream. Mr. Shealey enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard, with a project of some sort constantly going. He was always up for an adventure, whether visiting the Grand Canyon or riding UTVs through sand dunes. He loved to travel and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered as a loving and kind man who was loved by all who knew him. He lived the past two years in Brunswick, Georgia and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Pridgen Shealey of Brunswick; children: Amy Shealey Brown & William Aaron of Bakersfield, California and Jeff & Shelli Shealey of Bakersfield, California; grandchildren: Addison McKenna Olson, Davis Fitzhenry Olson, Alex Brown, Jeron Brown, and Jaden Brown; two sisters: Barbara & Ottis Harper of Ocilla and Phyllis & Kenny Purvis of Ocilla; a brother, Jim & Linda Shealey of Peachtree City; a brother-in-law, Gary Pridgen of Mexico Beach, Florida; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Irene Davis Shealey; his step-father, David L. Cyr; and a sister, Charlene Shealey.

The family requests that flowers be omitted, and memorials be sent to the Gary Sinise Foundation at donate.garysinisefoundation.org or to Saved by Grace, 186 Cornerstone Drive, Brunswick, GA 31523.
