Richard J. Liberatore, 69

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Richard J. Liberatore, age 69, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, yet very peacefully at home on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Born in Attleboro, MA on May 15, 1952, he was a loving son of the late Frank, Sr. and Clara (Arayas) Liberatore.

Dickie grew up in town and was a 1970 graduate of Mansfield High School. Following a career that spanned fifty years at the Acorn Manufacturing Company in Mansfield, he retired in 2020 with the position of General Manager.

Dickie loved spending time with his adoring family and was very instrumental in preserving the memory of his three uncles, killed in action during WWII, by helping to maintain Liberatore Square in Mansfield in their honor.

A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, he was a member of the Wrentham Sportsmen’s Association, an accomplished winemaker, an avid New England sports fan, and very much enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating.

He was the dear brother of Thomas D. Liberatore of Mansfield and the late Carol A. McLellan and Frank Liberatore, Jr. He was the devoted uncle of Kim Joslin and her husband Darren of Illinois and Kathleen LeBlanc and her husband Edward of Marlboro. He was also a loving great uncle and great-great uncle.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, September 3rd at 12:30 P.M. at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, 1 Franklin Street, Mansfield.
