A service in the memory of Virginia Lee (Fowler) Foust will be held at the Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service on Sunday August 29, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm in the West end in the Gathering Room.
Virginia was born October 28, 1925 to Marion “Bill” and Adah Starr Fowler in Anderson, the second of six siblings, and lived her entire life in Anderson. She graduated from Anderson High School, class of 1945, and was a devoted basketball fan.
Virginia went to work at East Side Jersey Dairy when she was 18 and felt that she was part of the Hardacre family, she continued doing the driver’s books at home after her children were born. She raised four children, all college educated, as a single mother after her husband, Harold S. Foust was killed in an accident at his work in January of 1963. When the children were in school, she became a legal secretary with her brother, Ronald K. Fowler in the Citizens Bank Building and made many friends in downtown Anderson. She later worked at General Motors, Guide Lamp Division both in the office and in assembly for 15 years, into retirement, and again made many friends of her co-workers. Virginia was a member of Legal Secretaries, ABWA (Anderson Business Women of Anderson). She was a life-long member of Bethany Christian Church, being baptized in the Killbuck Creek, where the original Bethany Church stood, by Reverend Kermit Pugh. She was a charter member of the Miriam Circle at church and volunteered many hours with Vacation Bible School and children’s activities. Her neighborhood bridge club partners were like sisters. Virginia was a lifelong learner, reading two newspapers daily and more. She was the family historian and studied genealogy for all sides of her large extended family.
She is survived by her four children Teriann (Nestor) Gutierrez of Jacksonville, Illinois, Monty (Patricia Broshar) of Pendleton, Dr. Thomas (Dr. Allison Mosak) of Carmel and Tracy Foust Thompson, of Anderson; 10 grandchildren, Angela (Graham) Richards, Carmel, IN, Autumn (Evan) Overby, Frankfort, David (Amanda Dean) Foust, Kokomo, Samuel Foust of Indianapolis, Ashlee (Justin Menke) Gutierrez, Montrose, Iowa, Betsy Gutierrez, Jacksonville, Illinois, Vincent Gutierrez (Kali Fry), Jacksonville, Illinois, Trenton Foust, Greenfield, Brenton Foust, Anderson, and Christopher Thompson, Anderson;15 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Marian Land, and Ronald (Vickie) Fowler, and many nieces and nephews.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Adah Fowler; her husband, Harold S. Foust; three siblings, Gerald Fowler, Judith McMahan and Sylvia Szot; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Land, Don McMahan and Robert Szot.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson Symphony Orchestra, Paramount Heritage Foundation, Highland Heights Foundation, Healed Identity Movement or the charity of the donor's choice.
