Upon his return and discharge from the service, they married in 1954 and had two sons, Dale and Scott. Jack’s aerospace work led the family to Winchester, MA in 1962. Merna gave up her teaching career shortly thereafter to be more involved with raising her two boys. While she was the Cub Scout Den Mother, Jack was the Scout Master for years to come. After a downturn in the aerospace industry, the family started a Shaklee distribution business and a stinging insect extermination business in 1973. They enjoyed traveling together, sharing experiences of exotic cultures and the wonders of the world. Merna ran the business office for four decades until Jack’s passing from ALS in 2011.
