Jimmy Alexander, 74, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Eulogies will be given by Jack Paulk, Lee Liles, and Mark Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was born February 2, 1947, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late William Arthur & Lillian Whitley Alexander. He was a 1965 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Ben Hill-Irwin Tech for bookkeeping. He worked on the assembly line at Delco-Remy and retired from General Motors while working at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jimmy loved NASCAR and worked on several teams including Jimmy Means Racing. He loved his grandchildren and was an avid Purple Hurricane fan and booster. He loved life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. He was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church in Riverdale.
He is survived by his son, Andy & Jodi Alexander of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Jennifer & Chris Irish of Lynchburg, Virginia; grandchildren: PFC Whitley Alexander, USMC, Quantico, Virginia and Ava Irish of Lynchburg, Virginia; a sister, Connie Smith of Fitzgerald; and a brother, Bobby Alexander of Dublin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chandler Andrew Alexander; two sisters: Peggy Player and Terri Alexander; and two brothers: Billy Alexander and Warren Alexander.
The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to any organization or booster club that benefits the Purple Hurricanes.
