Raymond J Wing, age 65, of Neenah, Wisconsin, formerly of Woburn, Massachusetts, and Newton, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 9, 2021. He first blessed us with his presence on November 5, 1955, born in Winchester, MA, which he would never let you forget is the date they travel to in “Back to the Future” movie. He was the eldest son born to the late Angela “Dolly” E. Catania and the late Raymond H. Wing. He and his wife Sandra, who he married in 1978, were blessed with three beautiful daughters: April, Angeline, and Cassandra (Cassie) Wing, and grandchildren, Braxton, Natalee, Ayden, Nova, and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother Mark and his wife Judy of Dracut MA, sisters Maxine and Joyce Wing of Fitchburg, MA.
Raymond loved attending his children’s soccer games, Boys and Girls Club concerts/talent shows, and many fun family gatherings especially at the arcades at Hampton Beach which cost him a lot of quarters during Catania extended Labor Day family reunions. In recent years, Raymond found further joy bowling, singing songs, and playing guitar with his five grandchildren especially his firstborn little buddy Braxton, age 10.
Raymond was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury High. He attended Lowell Tech and then went to full-time night school with his wife while they both worked full time. They earned Associates' degrees in Business Management from Middlesex Community College in Bedford MA. Dolly was so proud that her son Raymond was honored by being invited to be Class Valedictorian for his achieving a Highest Honors GPA but he was too shy to publicly speak so he proudly performed the honor of Student Marshall instead leading the graduation procession.
Raymond’s work at Sevcon and then Vicor began his career in business system management where he became one of the highly respected and sought after professionals in his field. In his earlier years he was employed at Gillette, Andover, where he made many lifelong friends with whom he played softball, basketball, bowling, and his favorite, street hockey, in Lawrence with the Poor Farmer team that achieved many championship seasons. In later years, he worked for several consulting firms (relocated to work for Banta in Wisconsin in 2005) and most recently enjoyed working for New Resources Consulting in Milwaukee as a Manager Consultant for almost 14 years where coworkers appreciated his humor and positive attitude. Raymond was the kind of guy you could meet anywhere and talk about anything and it felt as though he knew you as one friend summarized in a comment, "that after only knowing Ray for a few hours, it seemed I had known him my entire life." His sense of humor/laughter and love for music and writing his own guitar songs, will forever live on in our hearts. He was simple yet spiritually complex. He was divine but always rough around the edges. When he was weak, he would show us all how to be strong, being a blessing to all he met, and he will live on in the memories of all he has touched. His heart lives on like the words in this song:
“Someday I’ll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops"
