Muriel E. (Nixon) Gentile, age 97, of Medford passed away on Monday, August 23, at Stonebridge at Burlington Assisted Living. Raised and educated in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Gannon) Nixon. Muriel was a lifetime member of the Medford Boat Club. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, 3rd Order of Mary, and St. Raphael Sodality. She was a master quilter, and made flannel Teddy Bears for hospitalized children.
Muriel was the beloved wife of the late John A. Gentile, Sr., and the devoted mother of Dorothy Wilder and her husband John of Medford, Paul Gentile and his wife Verity of Marlborough, Carolyn Gentile of Concord, and the late John A. Gentile, Jr. and Michael Gentile. She was the loving grandmother of nine grandchildren and the loving great grandmother of six great grandchildren. Muriel was the dear sister of the late Dorothy Nixon-Smith and Thomas Nixon.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 28th from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
