Obituary

Cynthia Jeannine “Jeannie” Baggett Steed, 42, of Tifton passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at New River Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley and the Rev. Michael L. Marchant officiating. Jeannie will be laid to rest at Harding Methodist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Jeannie will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Casey Billings, Casey Blalock, Wendell Hall, Michael Lawrence, Michael Lasseter and Justin Dotson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Dow, Donnie Purvis Jr., Chad Purvis, Curtis Billings, Milton Rousey and Will Rousey.

Born January 4, 1979 in Tift County, Jeannie was the daughter of Chesley O’Neal “Chip” Baggett and Elizabeth “Nena” Gray Baggett of Tifton. Jeannie was formerly a paraprofessional at Northside Primary School and a secretary at Affinity Health Group. She received her Associate Degree in cosmetology and she was a beauty consultant and loved to sell makeup and help women feel more confident about themselves. She was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton, where she was the Children’s Church Leader and Leader of the Drama Team and the GA’s teacher. She loved being a faithful wife and a loving mother.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dan Gray; her paternal grandfather, Neal Baggett; and her maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Hilda and Barney Bryant.

In addition to her parents, Jeannie is survived by her husband, William Paul “Billy” Steed of Tifton; one son, Brian Paul Steed of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Codie and John Davis of Tifton; her maternal grandmother, Wesley Jo Gray of Lenox; and her paternal step-grandmother, Frances Baggett of Greenville, North Carolina.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
