Mr. Thomas F. “Buddy” Nugent, age 80, died April 5, 2006 at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Somerville, he was a Medford resident for the last 39 years. Thomas was the beloved son of the late Mary (McGuire) & Thomas Nugent.
Buddy was a World War II Navy veteran and member of Somerville Post #19. He served for Jan, 1944 to Jan. 1946. He worked as a Phone Technician for New England Tel. & Tel. for over 34 years. He retired in 1988 at the age of 62. In his retirement, Buddy enjoyed gardening and spending time in his small home workshop. He also especially enjoyed his many pet dogs he had over the years.
Buddy attended St. Theresa/St. Catherine Schools and graduated from Somerville High School. Born and raised in Somerville, he and his new wife, Nancy (DiBiase) lived in Somerville for under a year and then moved to Medford. They where married for 40 years.
In addition to his beloved wife Nancy and his parents, Thomas is survived by his sister Mary Coyne and her husband John Coyne of Westwood. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent in Thomas´s name to Hospice Care, Inc, 41 Montvale Ave., Stoneham, MA 02180.
