Fred T. Leland, Sr. 80 , of Franklin died suddenly August 20 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was the husband of Paula A. (Randall) Leland for the past 60 years.
Born in Upton, July 23, 1941, Mr. Leland had lived for most of his life in Medway prior to moving to Franklin 14 years ago.
Fred had been a member of the Laborer’s Union Local 609 for 30 years before retiring.
He had enjoyed spending time working on cars with his sons and had a great love for old antique trucks and cars , camping and hanging with the guys at the Honeydew on West Central Street.
Fred enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at family cookouts and gatherings and taking rides with the love of his life, his wife Paula visiting Plymouth, Cape Cod and Maine.
In addition to his wife he is missed by his children, Fred Leland Jr. and his wife Nancy of Foxboro, Terri Kowalik and her husband Jimmy of Milford, Michael Leland and his wife Jennifer of Medway, Ricky Leland and his wife Barbara of Mendon, Tony Leland and his wife Dawn of Medway, Jerry Leland and his wife Jennifer of Arlington Heights, Illinois and Valerie Tomaso and her husband Mark of Newport, Rhode Island.
He is also survived by his siblings, Marion , Charlotte, Joyce and was the brother of the late Herbert and James.
He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 26 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at Noon.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 10:00-Noon.
