Mary P. Lentini age 74 of South Boston died peacefully on August 19, 2021 after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. She was the loving daughter of the late Paul and Angelina Lentini of South Boston.
A graduate of South Boston High School, Mary spent many of her younger years living in Los Angeles, California. After returning to Massachusetts, Mary worked in the transportation industry, retiring recently from Boston Freight Terminals. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the beach, shopping, gambling, and her annual trips to Aruba with her sister.
Mary will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, generous person who spoke her mind. She was always the “cool” aunt who spoiled her nieces and nephews during her visits home from LA. Mary had an infectious laugh that made everyone around her smile. She would always go above and beyond to help anyone in need.
Mary is survived by her sister Carmela Whalen of South Boston, with whom she lived; her brother, the late Guy Lentini and his wife Liz. She also leaves behind four nieces and four nephews: Richard Whalen and his fiancé Kathy Marshall, Angela Pilling and her husband Todd, Mary Ann Breen and her husband Matt, Michael Whalen, Dot Fournier and her husband Bernie, Mimi Trainito, Paul Lentini and his wife Tracy, and Tano Lentini and his wife Patty. She is also survived by twelve great nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends from coast to coast.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, Boston, MA 02127. Funeral services to follow immediately at Casper Funeral Home. Interment Services at St. Michael Cemetery in Boston. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful care given by Boston Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.
