MaryJo (Surprenant) Tanhauser, age 65, passed away on August 19, 2021 from Mercy Medical Center. She was born on December 26, 1955 in Springfield, a daughter of the late Richard and Kathleen (Lavin) Surprenant. MaryJo worked as a Postal Clerk for the General Mail Facility in Springfield for many years before she retired. She enjoyed trips to the casino, vacations with family and spending time with her loved ones. She is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Steven Tanhauser of Springfield; one son, Steven Tanhauser III of Springfield; one daughter, Jennie Venne of East Longmeadow; two brothers, Richard Surprenant and his wife Margaret of VT and John Surprenant of Falmouth and four grandchildren, Brandon, Victoria, Nicholas and Benjamin. She is predeceased by her brother James Surprenant. All services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
