Obituary

Colella, Romeo P. of Duxbury Village, peacefully passed on August 18, 2021 at the age of 88 at home surrounded by his family. Formerly of Roslindale, he is predeceased by his loving wife Rose Marie (Comperchio) whom he now joins in an ever lasting life. He was the beloved father of James Baracewicz, Diane Murphy and spouse Ted, Anthony Baracewicz and spouse Ilyn, John Baracewicz and spouse Saundra, Andrea Conway and spouse Robert and son in law Stephen Matulis. He is predeceased by his loving daughter Dr. Cheryl Matulis. He is survived by his loving 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Romeo had a contagious smile and could light up a room. He enjoyed horse racing, traveling with family, growing tomatoes, mushroom hunting, bocce and making pizza for his grandchildren. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a bricklayer with local 18 in Boston. He spent many years in Southport and Florida with his loving wife. He will be sorely missed by many and wonderful memories of him will live on through his family. The family is grateful for the support of many from Cranberry Hospice which allowed Romeo to remain in his home and Shirley Maughn who cared for him in Florida.

Visitation will be held at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury, on Monday, August 23, from 10-11am followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church, West Roxbury at 11:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be made to The Cranberry Hospice 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth MA 02360.
