Eloise Virginia Griffin Dampier, 89, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Fellowship Home Brookside in Valdosta, surrounded by her family. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Dampier at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Rickey Wells will officiate. The family will meet at the residence of Miranda Dillard, Mrs. Dampier’s granddaughter, 18 Cayde Circle in Tifton immediately after the service on Saturday. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed at the graveside.
Born July 4, 1932, in Lenox, Mrs. Dampier was the daughter of the late Arthur Griffin and Lillie Mae Williams Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Calvin Dampier, Sr.; one brother, A. G. Griffin; her sisters, Florene Hood, Alma Waldrop, Margaret Goff and an infant sister; and one granddaughter, Giny Dampier. Before retiring, she worked at Walmart. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Dampier is survived by three sons, Jack C. Dampier, Jr. of Alapaha, Dana Andrew Dampier of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and Roger Dale Dampier of Crawfordville, Florida; three granddaughters, Amanda Herrin, Trina Davis and Miranda Dillard; three great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; two great-great grandsons; and five great-great granddaughters.
