Grace Lorena "Polly" Lingefelt Grant, 97, of Tifton passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Grant at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Jim Williams and the Rev. Dr. Danny Ray will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Born April 29, 1924, in Liberty, South Carolina, Mrs. Grant was the daughter of the late Hyram Lingefelt and Bessie Spence Lingefelt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Grant; two sons, William Lingefelt, Sr. and Carlton Grant; two sons-in-law, Don Garvitte and Roy Conger; five brothers; one sister; one grandson; two great-grandsons; and one great-great granddaughter. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County.
Mrs. Grant is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph “Jimmy” and Dorothy Grant of Enigma and Roger and Gwen Grant of Adel; two daughters, Joy Conger of Tifton and Carol Garvitte of Lenox; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly.
