Worcester - Barbara A. (Whitfield) Parenteau, 90, of Worcester, died peacefully in Saint Vincent Hospital on Saturday, August 14, 2021

She was born in England to Henry and Florence (Hebert) Whitfield. Barbara met the love of her life and husband of 59 years, William V. Parenteau while he was in England during his military service.

Barbara worked for over 20 years with the Paul Revere Insurance Company. She bowled for many years with her husband in various mixed bowling leagues and often enjoyed taking trips to the theater, playing dominos, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing cards at the Auburn Senior Center. However, Barbara was truly the happiest when she was spending time with her family.

Barbara is predeceased by her husband, William V. Parenteau, who died in 2014. She is survived by her five children Sharon Nielsen and her husband, Chip, Jo Ann Lewis and her husband, David, Brian Parenteau, David Parenteau, and Joseph Parenteau; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also predeceased by a brother, Brian Whitfield.

The funeral will be held on Friday, August 20, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are on Thursday, August 19 from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to Saint Jude’s Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
