Kimberly J. Burdick, 60, of Groton died Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. She was born in Westerly, RI, on November 15, 1960, the daughter of Earl Clifford Burdick Jr. and Sandra (Rathke) Bernard. She grew up in the area and attended both Fitch High School and Wheeler High School.
Kimberly was employed as a CNA, housekeeper, and was a rural route mail carrier for the North Stonington Post Office. She was a member of the Nutmeg Fife and Drum Company. She was an avid NASCAR fan, and she lived all year for Christmas. Kimberly was an excellent cook, she loved the beach, she enjoyed camping and going to yard sales. She was vivacious and made people laugh. But most of all, she loved her family.
In addition to her father, Earl, and her mother, Sandra, and stepfather, Alfred Bernard, Kimberly is survived by her son, Samuel Burdick and his wife Amanda Burdick of Mystic. She is also survived by her siblings, David Burdick, Jessica Kessler, Richard Burdick and Michael Burdick. She will be greatly missed by her uncle Samuel Rathke and cousins Samantha Corey, Tina Fisher, Norman Rogers and Wendy Moreland.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the North Stonington Emergency Services Building, 25 Rocky Hollow Road, North Stonington CT. 06359.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Yale New Haven Hospital for the excellent care they gave to Kimberly over the years.
