Dennis J. Shea, a 30 year resident of Charlestown and formerly of Somerville, entered into eternal life on Friday, August, 13 2021 at his home in Charlestown. He was 83 years of age.
Dennis was born in Boston on May 25, 1938, a son of the late John J. Shea and Kathleen B. (Donovan) Shea. He grew up in Somerville where he attended St. Benedict Parochial School and graduated from Somerville High School in 1956. Following High School, Dennis enlisted into the United States Army and served his country with honor and pride until he was honorably discharged. Dennis was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union Local #25. He was a member of the Somerville City Club and Abraham Lincoln Post #11 Memorial Hall. He was an avid Boston Sports fan who enjoyed spending time at the beach and traveling to Delray Beach, FL.
Dennis is the devoted 30 year companion of Jeanne (Flammini) Tobin. He is the loving Papa to 10 grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Mary Travers and her husband Robert, Rita Russo and her husband Joe, Kathleen Shea, Paula Millar and her husband John, and the late William Shea. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dennis’ visiting hours on Wednesday morning August 18, 2021 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will be private.
