Grace J. (Lemist) Welch, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly at her home in Charlestown on Thursday, August 12, 2021. She was 91 years of age.
Grace was born in Boston on July 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Lillian (Moore) Lemist. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Grace worked for Bank of America for several years and most importantly she was also a homemaker where she took pride caring for her husband, daughter, 2 sons and their families. Grace was an avid Boston Red Sox fan who never missed watching a game and in her spare time she enjoyed reading, knitting and on most sunny days would be seen sitting out in front of her home in the sun.
Grace is the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Welch Jr. She is the devoted mother of Mary Mirdik and her late husband John and the late Thomas Welch and George Welch and his surviving wife Beth. She is the loving Nana to Tobi Mirdik, Lisa Welch, Thomas Welch, Mason Welch, Kelly Welch, Michelle Welch and the late Cori Mirdik and Scott Mirdik and loving great-grandmother to Jonathan Whalen, Jose, Charisma, Anthony, Jay, Cralie and Margaret. She is the beloved sister of the late Dorothy, John and Gene.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Grace's Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
