SANASARIAN, Pauline Peppron of Waltham, passed peacefully at home with loving family at her side on August 4, 2021. She joyfully celebrated her 97th birthday on June 19 of this year with many extended family members. Pauline was the beloved daughter of the late Vahrich and Lillian (Sandrakordzian) Sanasarian. Devoted sister of the late Helen Sookikian and Richard Sanasarian Jr. Pauline leaves behind first cousins Ronald Arslanian, his wife Leslie, their children David Arslanian and Jamie (Arslanian) Filton and Cheryl Shushan, her husband Paul Crimlisk, her children Andrea (Shushan) Poulin, David and Alex Shushan; and nephews and nieces Richard K. and Kenneth P. Sanasarian and his wife Tracey, Paula J. (Sanasarian) Cappello, Linda G. (Sookikian) Eckersley and her husband Timothy Eckersley, and Steven R. Sookikian. Pauline adored her grandnephews Justin Vee Eckersley, Christopher Eckersley, Julian O. Sookikian, Nicholas and Jonathan Cappello, Stephen Cappello, and Richard Edward Sanasarian and also great-grand nephews and nieces: Nicholas and Nya Cappello, Annabelle Cappello and Christopher and Chloe Cappello and Julian and Damian Sookikian.
Pauline was a graduate of Watertown High School. In her youth, Pauline was a member of the National Honor Society, participated in school sports including field hockey and basketball, and played the violin in the school orchestra. She won a beauty contest in Rhode Island and was crowned by the state’s governor at the time.
As an adult, she worked for Raytheon and was proud to be an executive secretary until her retirement. She then loved spending time at her vacation house in West Yarmouth. She belonged to a bowling league and golfed enthusiastically for many years.
A lover of life and her Armenian heritage, Pauline was active in the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF), the Komitas Choral Society, the Armenian Folk Dance Group, and volunteered at the Armenian Library and Museum of America in Watertown. Pauline taught Sunday School at St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church of Watertown for many years.
Funeral service takes place Tuesday, August 17 at St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 38 Elton Avenue, Watertown, Mass., at 12 Noon. A viewing will be held immediately before the funeral at 11 a.m. also at St. Stephen’s.
