Laurence Michael Dalton, Sr. (Mike) beloved husband of 35 years to Kathryn (Ramsey) Dalton of Abington, Massachusetts died on August 11th at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Brockton, MA after a long illness.
Mike was born March 20, 1945, to the late Lawrence and Mary (Bailey) Dalton.
He was the brother to the late William F. Dalton of Florida, Maureen S. Mahoney of Maine, Judith Walbridge of Colorado, Karen M. Tracey of Abington, and Aileen R. Tamulevich of Lakeville. Mike was a devoted father to L. Michael Dalton, Jr. of Franklin, Matthew Dalton of Abington, Heather Dalton LaFrance of Meriden, CT, Jessica Dalton Sibbald of Pembroke, and Corey Dalton of Hanson. But his favorite title was grandfather to the late Matthew Dalton Jr; Edward, Connor, and Alexis LaFrance; and Abby and Logan Dalton.
Mike was the first graduate of the first graduating class at South Shore Vocational Technical High School. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army. He was a very decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mike went on to own and operate Dalton's Garage until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching youth sports, gardening, bird watching, entertaining in his back yard, walking, his dogs' Shaughnessy, giving knee crabs to the kids, and eating his sweets especially ice cream and peanut butter cups.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Monday August 16 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and his funeral service on Tuesday August 17 at 8:15 AM from the Chapel followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. A private burial will take place in the Massachusetts VA Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the American Cancer Society.
