Michael W. “Mike” McBrayer, 76, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Steve Tucker officiating. Mr. McBrayer will be laid to rest at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. McBrayer will lie in state on Friday, August 13, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Lamar Brooks, Ronnie Storey, Mike Willis, David English, Richard Hill, Gregg Horne and John Tanner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Hall, Freddie Walker, Van Whittle and the men from the Hog ‘N Bones Breakfast Table.
Born April 15, 1945, in Tifton, Mr. McBrayer was the son of the late Richard Thomas McBrayer and Myra Stephens McBrayer. He was also preceded in death by one son, James “Aaron” McBrayer; four brothers, Clarence Richard McBrayer, Charles McBrayer, Jimmy McBrayer and Vernon McBrayer; and one sister, Mildred Smith. He graduated from Tift County High School in the Class of 1964. He was retired from the Georgia State Patrol and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a former and long-time member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God.
Mr. McBrayer is survived by his wife, Sharon Thompson McBrayer of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Michaela and Bobby Underwood of Tifton; two step-sons and their wives, Jason and Holly Connell of Forsyth and Justin and Faith Connell of Tifton; one brother, Gene McBrayer of Sylvester; one sister, Doris Marchant of Tifton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Hannah and Tanner Grace, Haley and Greg Camargo, Cayden Underwood, Jordan McBrayer, Sam McBrayer, Katy Isaza, Kristen Connell, Jac Connell and Avery Grace Connell; and three great-grandchildren, Kylie Camargo, Mason Camargo and Piper McBrayer.
