LAWRENCE GRANT MORENCY. Born November 5 1931 in Medford, MA to Laurence E. Morency and Alberta Mae (Grant) Morency. Resident of Randolph Ma for 65 years. Larry served as a Marine in the Korean War and worked at Stone and Webster Engineering Corp. as Assistant Chief Power Engineer. After almost 30 years with the company, he retired early, and when he discovered how much he missed working, he went to work for Enable, Inc. where he put his engineering skills to work helping people with disabilities. To his family, Larry was everything a husband and father should be: a great leader, a loving disciplinarian, and teacher of life lessons. To others, he was the husband, dad, and grandfather that everyone wishes they had. Through the years, dozens of kids and adults alike regarded him as their honorary grandfather, and he loved each one like they were his own. It’s a legacy of love that was grounded in his unending love for his wife, Maureen. Theirs was a love that grew deeper each of the 68 years they were married.
Larry is survived by his wife, Maureen Dwyer Morency, his Daughter Laureen “Lori” Morency and her wife Denise Hamilton and their fur baby Sawyer, and was predeceased by both his son Michael Lawrence Morency and his wife Carolann Morency. He was grandfather to Steven Morency and his wife Jennifer, Michael Morency, Daniel Morency and his wife Chelcie, and great grandfather to Chase and Devon Morency and sister in law Sister Carol Dwyer, SSND.
Will be held at Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, MA on Thursday August 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 13 at 10:30 am at St. Bernadette’s Church 1031 North Main Street, Randolph followed by a gathering of friends and family for a luncheon immediately after. In lieu of flower donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Center in Weymouth.
