Obituary

Andrew F. Cicerano of Medford passed away unexpectedly on August 7th. Andrew was 55. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Scannell Souza) Cicerano for the past 18 years, the devoted son of Rosemary Farrell of Malden and sisters Lisa Castaldo and Lauren Cence and her husband Dan all of Medway. Andrew had formed a close bond with Janet’s son, Robert Souza and wife Gina. He will be greatly missed by his brother-in-law Ed Scannell and wife Mary Ann. He leaves many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces including his godmother, JoAnne Middleton and husband Arthur.

Andrew worked for the United States Post Office as a dedicated letter carrier for 18 years, most recently in Medford. But he had an entrepreneurial side as well starting a cleaning business; Andrew’s Cleaning, in the local communities.

If you were going to engage Andrew in a battle of wits, you had better come armed. He was an
entertaining conversationalist who was quick with a wry comment or observation on a wide range of people and topics that was funnier than anything his listeners could come up with. But his humor was never hurtful or insulting. Like the best of humorists, he always left you laughing. When humor was not appropriate and a friend needed comfort and support involving any number of life’s travails, he did less talking and more listening. He was the warmest and most thoughtful person you could hope to meet. Andrew also had an encyclopedic knowledge of old classic movies. He made it fun, if not educational, to watch one with him because he would always give you his personal review or tell some backstory behind the stars and directors.

Andrew taught himself woodworking and he created a variety of functional and handsome furniture for his home and those of friends. He put his heart and soul into each piece he thoughtfully created. But he was never happier than when taking his constant companions Addie Mae and Jack (now since passed) for walks up and down the wooded trails of the Fells in Medford, or long drives in the car. There is a sign above the stove in his home that reads: Home Is Wherever Your Dog Is. We hope Jack is waiting for him up there to say, welcome home, Andrew.

Andrew was the beloved husband of 18 years to Janet (Scannell Souza) Cicerano, of Medford. He was the cherished son of Rosemary Farrell of Malden. He was the dear brother of Lisa Castaldo and Lauren Cence and her husband Daniel, all of Medway. He was the loving uncle of TJ and Steven Castaldo, Daniel Jr., Mia and Ella Cence. He was the caring brother in-law of Ed Scannell and his wife Mary Ann of Needham. Andrew formed a close bond with Janet’s son Robert Souza and his wife Gina of Tewksbury. He was the loving godson of JoAnne Middleton and her husband Arthur. He was the beloved owner of his constant companion his dog Addie Mae. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Saturday, August 14th from 9 to 11 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 11:30 AM.
