Joseph Fredrick Contreras Jr. passed away on August 5, 2021, at home in Saticoy surrounded by his loving family. Joe struggled with congenital health issues for the majority of his adult life. He was 49 years old.
Joe was born in Oxnard on August 12, 1971 to Joseph Fredrick Contreras and Barbara Jean Marquez Morales. Joe was a lifelong resident of Ventura County and attended Hueneme Elementary and EO Green Junior High schools and enjoyed soccer, little league, surfing, and skateboarding. Joe graduated from Hueneme High School in 1989 and set about starting a family while working as a painter. Joe truly lived for his children. He loved to take his kids camping, hiking, and to the beach. He will be greatly missed by each of them.
Joe is survived by his sons Niko, Joseph, and Lux Contreras and daughter Josie Contreras; mother Barbara Morales; stepmother Ann Contreras; paternal grandfather Fred Contreras; brothers: US Army SFC Jason Morales (Yvette) and Jesus Morales; aunts: Rose Marie Wedemeyer (Byron), Corky Marquez, and Darlene Marie Klucker (Randy), Suzie Ramirez (Alfred), Becky Diaz; uncles: John Marquez, Michael (Terry) Contreras, and Tony (Barbara) Contreras; nieces: Leilia Jean, Christina, Jade, and Emma; nephews: US Army PFC Savyor Morales and Jesus Morales Jr.; lifetime partner Oceana Taylor, as well as numerous cousins.
Joe is preceded in death by his father Joseph Contreras Sr; maternal grandparents Salvador and Bertha Marquez; paternal grandmother Socorro Contreras; uncles: Robert Marquez, Tomas Marquez, and Phillip Diaz; aunts: Yvonne Marquez and Erma Linda Seibel; and cousin Joanna Marquez.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura. Graveside Services will be held at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11am.
