Obituary

On August 2, 2021, Patrick Joseph Tafoya of Ventura, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Patrick was granted his final wish of coming home to celebrate his 54th birthday before being taken to heaven.

Born on July 30, 1967 to Pat and Josephine Tafoya in Ventura, CA. Patrick was known for the eccentric positivity and light that he shared with whomever he came in contact with. Whether he was surfing ‘C’ Street, cheering his daughters on at their softball games and track meets, or helping prepare meals for families in need; regardless of where he was he impacted a multitude of lives.

Patrick found peace and joy practicing his faith and being in the ocean catching waves. He prided himself first on his family, gaining his Master’s degree in Higher Educational Leadership at California State University Channel Islands, and cheering on the San Francisco Giants.

If there was one thing people can agree on when thinking of Patrick it would be how wonderful of a person he was and the infectious positivity he brought to all.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Rachel; daughters, Brieanna and Katherine; sister-in-law, Michelle; father, Pat; and siblings, Desiree and Michael Tafoya. He will be missed by his nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, in-laws, friends, and those he coached over the years. Patrick is preceded in death by his mother Josephine Tafoya.

In lieu of flowers, his family has asked for memorial donations to be made to the various organizations he was a part of such as: World Central Kitchen, Best Day Foundation, Ventura College Softball & Track, Ventura Girls FastPitch League, and Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Thank you for your love and support of Patrick. Although he is physically gone, we will all cherish his memory and legacy.

To commemorate Patrick a vigil rosary will be held on Thursday, August 12 at 6:00 pm at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Mulcahy Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 13 at 4:00 pm at Saint Bonaventure High School Gymnasium with Father Leon. In addition, a paddle out will be conducted on Saturday, August 14 at 8:00 am at the ‘C’ Street Cove/ Ventura Pier. Arrangements for both the vigil and funeral are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
