Dennis, MA – Joseph P. Gallagher, 75 of Dennis and formerly of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Cape Heritage, Sandwich after an illness.
Mr. Gallagher was born in Worcester, son of the late James J. and Dorothy (Leal) Gallagher and lived there until he moved to Cape Cod in 2002.
Joseph is survived by the great love of his life, his wife of 40 years, Kathleen A. (Goddard) Gallagher; two sons, Joseph P. Gallagher and his wife, Megan of Clermont, FL and Christopher M. Gallagher and his wife, Laura of Worcester; a sister, Christine M. Gallagher and her husband, Milton Kanehailua of Riverside, CA; two identical twin grandsons, Zachary Michael and Brady Joseph Gallagher and many nephews and nieces.
Mr. Gallagher was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy M. Gorman of Sacramento, CA and a brother, James J. Gallagher of Tuscon, AZ.
Joseph graduated from South High School in 1963 and furthered his education by attending Worcester State University and attaining his bachelor’s degree in 1967 and his master’s degree in 1971. He went to work for the Town of Oxford Public Schools where he worked for 34 years as a teacher at the middle school, retiring in 2001.
Funeral services are being held privately in Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with burial in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Gallagher may be made to a charity of your choice.
