Stella M. McParland passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston, on Wednesday, August 4th. Stella was born and raised in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Philip and Ernestina (Viciari) Santoro. Stella lived in Medford for over 55 years where she devoted herself to her family and friends. She worked as a secretary, a lunch mother with Medford Schools, and also worked for the Shore Collaborative in Medford. A beloved member of a tightknit neighborhood, Stella was always available to help watch local kids, care for nieces and nephews, and often checked in on elderly and infirm neighbors. Stella was a devoted mother and wife. She always remained close to her extended family and shared her passion for family, cooking, baking, bingo and card games, which often could go late into night. She’ll always be remembered for her kindness and sharing her motherly love with all she met.
The beloved wife of the late Joseph T. McParland, Stella was a loving mother to Joseph T. McParland, Jr. she was a dear sister to Mary Vitale and her late husband Angelo of Palm Bay, FL, Felix J. Santoro and his late wife June of Hampstead NH, Adeline Ansaldi and her husband Anthony of Medford. Stella also leaves many devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Stella’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Wednesday August 11th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday, 4 – 8 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
