Doris "Mildred" Crumley Gibbs, 91, of Tifton passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mrs. Gibbs will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Gibbs’ grandsons, as well as Cody Yelverton and Tobie Douglas, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter B. Coney and Loretta Coney.
Born September 1, 1929, in Tift County, Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of the late Benjamin Crumley and Rosey Harris Crumley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gibbs; one son, Ira Harold “Knocker” Gibbs, who passed away, July 19, 2021; one granddaughter, Kerri Gibbs; five brothers, Dewey Crumley, Harris Lee Crumley, Hoyt Crumley, Gene Crumley and L. A. Crumley; and two sisters, Maybelle Ball and Katherine Johnson. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook and everyone was welcome around her table. She was a member of Brookfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Becky and Tim Wiggins and Rose Cooksey; two sisters-in-law, Reba Crumley of Valdosta and Florence Crumley of Eldorado; four grandchildren, Kevin Gibbs and his wife Julie, Zach Goodman, Kelly Cooksey and Cole Childers and his wife Heather; and four great-grandchildren, Lucy Gibbs, Mary Charles Gibbs, Sara Frances Gibbs and Hope Goodman.
