Obituary

Norma Garretson died August 4, 2021 at Alexandria Care Center.
She was born May 1, 1930, in Anderson, the daughter of George and Pansy (Coppess) McKeand.
Norma was a pioneer regarding Mother-Career-Life balance challenges while raising five children and working for General Motors until retirement.
Her family was her most prized possession, while her many interests included cooking, gardening, fishing, listening to Gospel music, playing cards and numerous craft activities. Norma was a member of Red Hats, Linwood Community Church, U.A.W. and other community organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth E. Garretson, her granddaughter, special angel Brook Gall, sister, Frances Hoppes and brother Ed McKeand.
Survivors include her five children, Larry W. (Susan) Garretson of Burnsville, North Carolina; Sherry L. (Ross) Silvey of Alexandria; Mark A. (Mary) Garretson of Pendleton; Theresa Garretson of Anderson; Jon E. (Karen) Garretson of Noblesville; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Mark) Talmage of Alexandria; A. Gregory Garretson of St. Petersburg, Florida; Thomas E. (Buddy) Garretson of High Point, North Carolina; Drew (Tiffany) Garretson of Vincennes; Ashley (Bryan) Donaugh, of Fortville; Kyle Garretson of Noblesville; D. Adam (fiancée' Christina) Garretson of Denver, Colorado; J.T. Gall of Anderson and Ryan Garretson of Indianapolis; and a brother, Jim (Lois) McKeand of North Vernon. She was also blessed with six beautiful great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Ashley and LeaAnna of Alexandria Care Center and Hospice nurse, Cathy for their loving care.
Visiting will begin Tuesday, August 10 at 11 a. m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 South Rangeline Road, Anderson followed by funeral at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Rick Biven. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
