Lewis Jackson Laminack, “Jack Mack”, 83, of Perry, Georgia, died Monday, August 2, 2021, at Houston Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11:00 at Evergreen Cemetery, with Elder Garry Hall and Rev. Tommy Land, Jr. officiating.
Jack was born on March 25, 1938, in Irwin County, to the late Joe F. and Vera McCrimmon Laminack. He was a 1956 graduate of Irwin County High School. He was preceded in death by a brother, O.W. “Rip” Laminack and a sister, Joan Posey, and one grandchild, Abigail Kathleen Ellis.
If you visited Jack in his home, you may hear him say, “Make yourself at home and if you can’t, that’s where you ought to be.” If you asked him how he was doing, he may say: “Fair to middlin”, Fine as frog hair split 4 ways, or Better than I deserve.” You could always count on Jack for making you laugh with his funny sayings. Jack will be remembered for his faithfulness as a song leader and deacon at New Prospect Baptist and Eureka Primitive Baptist Church. He was a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church.
He had a love for farming and gardening. You could find him in the fields on his big red tractor, “Clyde”.
He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Rubye Walker Laminack of Perry, Georgia; daughters: Gwen (John) Forehand of Byron, Georgia, and Vedi (Garry) Ellis of Fredericksburg, Virginia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
