Obituary

Marcelle R. (Audette) Chartier, 96, of New Bedford died August 1, 2021 after a period of declining health.
She was the wife of the late Normand O. Chartier.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Albert L. and Antoinette (Godbout) Audette, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was formerly employed by Sacred Heart Church and Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mrs. Chartier was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the former Sacred Heart Church. She was awarded the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her many years of service to her church.
She was member of the Richelieu Club, ACA Franco American Club and was a volunteer at the Fort Tabor - Fort Rodman Military Museum.
Marcelle was a talented craftsperson who enjoyed making Nantucket baskets, reading, history, arts and crafts.
Survivors include her son, Roger Chartier of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Paulette Chartier and her husband James Donnelly of Dartmouth and Melanie Chartier and her husband Scott DeHainaut of Pawtucket; a brother, Joseph Audette of Dartmouth; a sister-in-law, Doris Audette of Somerset; 3 grandchildren, Alex Donnelly, Ben Donnelly and Emily DeHainaut; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jean Paul Audette, Bernard Audette and Gerald Audette.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 16th at 11 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Her family will receive guests from 10-11 AM at church prior to her Mass.
