James “Harvey” Nichols, 74, of West Berrien passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Nichols at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Oakey Grove Church in Berrien County, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Garvey Nichols, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Covid-19 guidelines will be followed at the graveside.
Born on March 19, 1947, in Tifton, Mr. Nichols was the son of the late James Dovward Nichols and Aline Conger Nichols. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rose Ellen Lockerman Nichols; two brothers, Johnny Carl Nichols and the Rev. Charles Nichols; and one sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Larry Grizzard. A passionate Democrat, Mr. Nichols was an avid fisherman and gardener, and he was a preacher at Crossroad Church.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his fiance', Betty Redus of Fitzgerald; one son, Aubrey James Nichols of West Berrien; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Aline and David Yarbrough of Summerville and Melanie Magdalene and Carl Schow of Cartwright, Tennessee; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Garvie Sr. and Waunell Nichols of Enigma and Kenneth Nichols, Henry and Tammy Nichols and Calloway and Candy Nichols, all of West Berrien; one sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Jimmy Grant of Enigma; and four grandchildren, David Risby Yarbrough, Mae Rosellen Yarbrough, Martha Grace Yarbrough and James Charles Yarbrough.
