Geneva Minchew Walters, 68, of Tifton passed away Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Mrs. Walters will be laid to rest at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ashton Milliones, Lance Moody, Zachary Adams, Randy Collier, Jonathan Suggs, David Tamez Jr. and Billy Collier will serve as pallbearers.
Born June 27, 1953, in Tampa, Florida, Mrs. Walters was the daughter of the late Newton Frederick Howell, Sr. and Roma Lee House Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carol Howell Minchew; two sons, Jamie Lynn Sawyer and Anthony Wayne Howell; one brother, Roger D. Howell, Sr.; and four sisters, Elizabeth Marie Howell, Connie Sue Howell, Mary Adams and Bonnie Lou Black. Before retiring, she was employed with Taylor’s Convenience Store in Fitzgerald and Burlen Corporation.
Mrs. Walters is survived by one son, William Nathaniel Sawyer of Douglas; five daughters, Belinda Collier of Enigma, Melinda McKinley of Fitzgerald, Jacqueline Ordaz and two step-daughters, Natasha Gomez of Tifton and Tanya Tamez of Enigma; two brothers, Willie “Bo” Howell of Tifton and Newton Frederick Howell, Jr.; 30 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Larry Collier of Tifton.
