Leon F. Kozul of Lexington, formerly of Medford, died Sunday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 66. Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Smith) Kozul.
Leon was an electrical engineer and had a very successful business in Medford named Aerowave Inc., which he owned and operated until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, gardening, playing cards, coaching his children in sports and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Leon also loved sports, especially the Red Sox. Leon bravely battled Parkinson's Disease for the past 20 years. His passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family.
Leon was the beloved husband of Kathy (Murphy) Kozul and the devoted father of Erin Menard and her husband Josh of Wakefield, Courtney Horvath and her husband Ryan of Lexington, Ryan Kozul of Stoneham and Katie Moran-Guiati and her husband Joe of Carlisle. He was the loving Grampy of Avery, Colby, Ryleigh and Brynn. Leon was the dear brother of Michael Kozul and his wife Maria of Natick and the late Tracy Kozul. He was the uncle of Tristan and Cameron Kozul. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services are private. Leon was also a lymphoma survivor. His grandson, Colby, is currently fighting pediatric lymphoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pablove.org/colbystrong to help support a pediatric lymphoma research grant.
