Joseph Bercier, Jr., 57, of New Bedford was sadly taken too soon on Sunday August 1, 2021 surrounded by those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife Sally, having just celebrated 30 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his son, Michael; his mother, Dolores Barksdale; his sisters, Linda (Eddie) Santos and Debra Bercier; his brother, Michael Bercier; his in-laws, the Cardoso’s and the Maknooni’s; several nieces and nephews; as well as his chosen family, Gil and Lori Gonsalves, John and Margie Mercer, and Dave and Kristan Miller.
Joe served in the U.S. Army and worked various jobs in both Massachusetts and 10 years in Florida, before returning home to New Bedford a few years ago.
Joe was happiest with his loved ones. He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Patriots and the Red Sox, and winning at pool. His sharp wit and laugh will be missed by his family and friends who will continue to share many good memories.
