Richard Arthur Boucher of East Bridgewater died peacefully on July 19 surrounded by family and his faithful Jack Russell, Brandy.
Born in Brockton on April 27, 1938, Dick attended Sacred Heart School and went on to Archbishop Williams High School from which he graduated in 1956 as class president. He received his BA degree from Stonehill College and his Master’s degree in Foreign Languages from Boston College.
Dick spent 38 years teaching French and Spanish at Brockton High where he was loved by students and faculty alike. In 1982, he was accepted into the American Mensa Society, an accomplishment of which he was proud.
In 1963 Dick met and married Victoria (Walmsley) Boucher. They proudly celebrated 56 years of marriage. They loved their antique cape home where they raised their family and enjoyed their retirement years. Family time at their cabin in the White Mountains was one of their greatest pleasures.
Dick was an avid letter writer and made it a practice to pen a letter a day throughout his life. He was also an ardent gardener, a voracious reader and an engaging storyteller. He loved organizing events and parties, especially for his high school class reunions and Brockton High retirees.
He was predeceased by his wife, Vicki, and their daughter Elise Boucher. He is survived by his two sons, Joseph (Mary) of New Hampshire and Robert (Yvonne) of East Bridgewater, four grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Jaime and Luke, and two great-grandchildren Declan and Delilah. Dick was brother to three siblings, Barbara (Bill) Brennan of VA, Gail (Peter) Dupuis of Brockton and Bill (Bart) Boucher of CA.
To know him was to love him.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 13 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
