Obituary

Daniel" Taz" Souto, 59, of New Bedford, MA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 27, 2021. He was born on February 18, 1962 in New Bedford to the late Joseph S. Souto and Ferdinanda (Teles) Souto.

Daniel was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a graduate of New Bedford High School. He was employed as a machinist for Precix, Inc. in New Bedford.

Daniel had a long-standing passion for motorcycles and loved to ride. From his very first Triumph to his beloved "Lucky 13" Harley Davidson, you could always see Danny riding the streets although "He may not see you". He loved building and repairing motorcycles and would always be there to lend his fellow brothers a hand with their issues. He was a former member of The Iron Order Motorcycle Club and held a strong relationship with the club and its members right up to his passing.

Daniel shared in a relationship with his fiancée, JoAnn Medeiros for the last 26 years, they were engaged and planned a late summer/early fall ceremony. Daniel held a strong love for his family, a 26-year relationship with his fiancée JoAnn in which they raised a daughter Calan together. He was an incredible father and an even greater grandfather. He would spend as much time as possible with his "Best lil Friend" his grandson Michael.

Daniel is survived by his fiancée JoAnn Medeiros, daughter Calan Costa and grandson Michael all of New Bedford; his brothers, Mark R. Souto and his wife Laura, of Acushnet, Shawn A. Souto and Michael M. Souto, both of New Bedford, his sisters, Patricia Brown and her husband David of FL, Dawn Souto-Coons of Maryland, and Michelle M. Souto of New Bedford; his 12 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; also his best friend and brother Michael (lil Mike) Freire; and all the many, many people he rode alongside throughout the years.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother Joseph “Joey” Souto, Jr.

A memorial visitation honoring Daniel will be held at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Thursday August 5, 2021 from 4- 8pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Daniel's GoFundMe page. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
