Obituary

Paul F. Martin
Retired Local # 7 Iron Worker

TEWKSBURY: Paul Francis Martin, age 76, a resident of Tewksbury for 44 years, formerly of Medford, passed away at home, in the loving care of his family and hospice, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Carol A. (Stanion) Martin.

Born in Medford on December 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Edward A. Martin and the late Mary Alice (Murphy) Martin.

Paul was raised in Medford, attended Medford schools, and graduated from Medford High School in 1963.

In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War era. Paul received the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Expert Badge decorations for his active-duty service.

Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed for over 25 years by Iron Workers Local # 7 in Boston.

Paul enjoyed numerous activities which included taking vacations with family and friends, salt-water fishing, golfing, skunking close ones in cribbage, and hosting his family for Sunday dinner at his home in Tewksbury. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in distress and would give you the shirt off of his back if that was what you needed. Paul had an incredible sense of humor and his laughter and smile were infectious to anyone who was around him. Paul was a handy man by nature. Chances are that if you needed something fixed, Paul had the tools to get the job done.

Paul was a member of the Broadsound Tuna Club in Revere, the Danversport Yacht Club and Marina, and the Cambridge American Legion Marsh Post # 442.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Douglas P. Martin of Tewksbury, and Laura A. Bettencourt and her husband Jason of Salem, NH; two grandchildren, Ava Martin and Jackson Bettencourt; his brother, Michael Martin and his wife Barbara (White) of Dunstable; his sister, Mary Brew and her husband Richard of Brookline, NH; his sisters-in-law, Kathy (Frick) Martin of Manassas, VA, and Mary Sue (McGovern) Martin of Pepperell, MA ; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Paul was the brother of the late David, Peter, Richard, and Margaret Martin.

Family and friends are invited to meet at 10 O’clock on Wednesday, August 4th, at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury, for his Memorial Funeral Mass. Kindly Omit Flowers. There are No Calling Hours. Donations honoring his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
