Fernand G. Fontaine, 78, died on July 29, 2021 at Villa Crest Retirement Community following a brief illness.
He was born in Coaticok, PQ, Canada on January 21, 1943, the son of Norbert and Josephine (Houde) Fontaine.
Prior to his retirement he worked at the Waumbec Mills and Velcro. Following his retirement, he became a professional pallbearer for local funeral homes.
He was a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus.
Fern was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed going on cruises, traveling, and trips to Foxwood Casino.
He enjoyed Sunday morning breakfasts with his closest friends and was always willing to help a friend in need.
Family members include his wife, Gisele Sevigny Fontaine, of Manchester, a step daughter, Diane Ingerson, and her husband Scott, of North Haverhill, NH. He was a loving Pepere to grandchildren Jillian and Shea.
He is survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends in both Canada and New Hampshire, and a very close, dear companion, Johanne Laurion, and her two children, Nancy and Brian, of Manchester.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:30 am in J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A committal service will follow at 12 noon in St. Augustin Cemetery, South Beech St.
