Vincent L. Tarducci, 88, of Wolcott Ave., Middletown, formerly of Union St. Millis, died Sunday at home. He was the husband of the Alice Lallier of Millis, whom he married in 2003, and the late Florence (Robillard) Tarducci, to whom he was married for 57 years.
Born in Blackstone, he was the son of the late Querino and Mary (Martineilli) Tarducci. Mr. Tarducci served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was present to witness the surrender of the Japanese Army to U.S. Forces at Tsingtow, China.
Following the war, Mr. Tarducci owned and operated Martinelli’s bakery, founded by his mother’s family, in Woonsocket. He operated the bakery until his retirement in 1977. He was active in several professional organizations, including the Boston Bakers Association. Mr. Tarducci was well-known for providing his brick ovens to roast hundreds of Thanksgiving turkey for local churches to distribute to needy families. He enjoyed RVing and snowmobiling with his late wife Florence. He also enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived two sons, Vincent A. Tarducci, of Middletown, and David Tarducci, of Oakham, MA, two daughters, Pauline Goulet, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Phyllis Marelli, of Uxbridge. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and Alice’s children, Carol Lallier, Patrick Lallier, Daniel Lallier, and Marlaine Fasasnello. He was the brother of Inez Saunders of Blackstone, and the late Rose Pavoni.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Theresa’s Church, Rathbun St., Blackstone. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5-8 pm in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket.
