Thomas A. Roe, born in Henryville, Indiana in 1933, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 with his family by his side.
Tom graduated from Henryville High School. He enlisted in the Army and served 2 years in Korea with KMAG. He moved to Ventura and graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and, then, received a teaching credential at UCLA. Tom worked at the Press Courier as a Photo Journalist before he started teaching at Ventura College as a Photography Instructor where he taught for 35 years. Tom loved teaching his students and learning all he could.
Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen; his son, Matthew Roe (Vanessa) of Westlake Village, CA; his daughters: Katie Roe of Puyallup, WA and Meridee Alvarez (Larry) of Kent, WA; his grandchildren: Beau Alvarez and Nevaeh and Alec Roe. He is also survived by his 3 brothers and 1 sister. Tom has many nephews and nieces and people whom he counted as friends. Tom was an avid model airplane flyer and enjoyed his Friday mornings at Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks flying with his buddies.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be sent to the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center, 705 E. Santa Barbara Street, Santa Paula, CA 93060.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Tom at 1:30 pm on October 2, 2021 at the Camarillo Christian Church, 1777 Arneill Road, Camarillo 93010.
Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
