Obituary

Jeanette Bikowski, 87, of Stoneham, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at her daughters home in Tewksbury.

Jeanette was born in Everett on November 8, 1933 A daughter of the late Leon Bikowski and the late Alice Bikowski, she was born on November 8, 1933 in Everett. She later moved to Chelsea where she was raised and educated.

As a young woman she enjoyed singing in nightclubs during the evenings and working at a factory ‘piece work’ during the days to afford her extravagant performance gowns.

She spent most of her life in Chelsea where she worked very hard to support her two daughters to whom she was the best mother anyone could have asked for. She worked for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea, for many years before her retirement. Jeanette will be remembered as someone who loved to dance, she’d be the first on the dance floor and the last to leave, her favorite song being “Sweet Caroline”.

She retired to Stoneham and in her retirement she enjoyed crocheting hats for the homeless and writing poetry. Above all she loved her family, especially her grandson Christopher, with whom she would play Scrabble with right up until the end. She also cherished her family of friends and of course her feline grandchildren, Harry and Sammy.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters; Debbie Lucas of Florida, Diane Anemoduris of Massachusetts, her grandson; Christopher Gillis of Florida and her brothers Leon Bikowski of New Hampshire and Joseph Bikowski of Massachusetts along with several nieces and nephews.

She was also a sister to the late Veronica Wilson and the late Stanley Bikowski.

There will be a private 'Celebration of life' held for her at a later date. Please keep her in your prayers. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local food pantry. The family would also like to personally thank those residents of Stoneham that Jeanette appreciated. She would walk 5-8 hours a day for many years all throughout Stoneham. She would zoom around with her trademark red walker and for the past 3 years you have all inspired our family as much as she was inspirational to all of you. She felt loved and appreciated and for that, along with the many offers of rides home in bad weather, our family sincerely thanks you.
