SPENCER: Therese M. (Plante) Flamand, 79 of Church street died Friday, July 23 in her home surrounded by her loving family after an illness.
She leaves her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Ernest G. Flamand, a son David P. Flamand of Rutland, a daughter Michelle M. Hawes and her husband Scott of Spencer, three grandsons; Brian & Christopher Hawes and Paul Flamand.
Therese was born in Ware, daughter of Leo and Rita (Berthiaume) Plante. She graduated from David Prouty High School. She started her career working at Shawmut Bank and while working there she was approached by Jake Merzigian who offered her a job at Spencer Products. She spent 47 years working at Spencer Products as an office manager before retiring. She was an avid sports fan and had season tickets to the New England Patriots for 30 years. She would tailgate with her husband and son and cook for everyone. She loved to travel and went on several cruises and would take an annual trip to Las Vegas every September. She and Ernie loved going to Foxwoods Casino and would go as often as they could even up to a month ago. She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish and belonged to the Spiritual Life Committee. Ernie has been Therese's caregiver for the past 8 years as she suffered from Alzheimer's disease and recently her grandson Christopher who is a registered nurse has been caring for her and the family couldn't thank either of them enough for their love and support. The family would like to thank the Jewish HealthCare Hospice for their compassion and care.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 27 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street. Burial will be private at a later date in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 26 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
