CHICOPEE - Georgette T. (Rousseau) Chicoine, 96, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, July 22, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Westbury, Province of Quebec, Canada on May 12, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late of Philias Rousseau and Alphonsine (Houde) Huard. She was raised and educated in Drummondville, Province of Quebec, Canada and had moved to Chicopee in 1956. She later lived on Dwight Street in Springfield before moving to the Asinof Apartments in Chicopee in 1994. She was a communicant of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. She was a loving homemaker to her family and enjoyed playing cards and bingo during her leisure time. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Roger I. Chicoine who was Called Home on December 20, 1983. They were married on July 6, 1946 in Drummondville, P.Q., Canada and were blessed with over 37 years of happiness together. She leaves her six loving children, Colette Valentine and Michel Chicoine and his wife, Janice, all of Springfield, Celine Godbout of Becket, Jacques Chicoine and his wife, Cheryl, of Springfield, Richard Chicoine and his wife, Susan, of East Longmeadow and Carole Chicoine and her husband, Christian Salazar, of Becket; her two loving daughters in law, Noreen Chicoine of Springfield and Lynn Chicoine of Monson; her 18 cherished grandchildren, 11 cherished great grandchildren, and her four cherished great great grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members in the United States and Canada. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two loving sons, Rejean "Rocky" Chicoine who was Called Home on March 28, 2007 and Daniel Chicoine who was Called Home on December 25, 2008; her two loving sons in law, Robert "Bobby" Valentine who was Called Home on May 22, 2021 and Jean-Claude Godbout who was Called Home on July 25, 2013; her cherished grandson, Anthony R. "Tony" Valentine who was Called Home on May 6, 2015; and her cherished great grandson, James Lee Gaudet who was Called Home on September 15, 2017. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, July 28, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, July 28, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass.
