Mrs. Martha (Asta) Abate, age 87, died, Monday April 3, 2006 in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a very brief illness. Martha was born in Boston and was the daughter of the late Vita (Patti) & Andrew Asta. She has been a life long North End of Boston resident.
Mrs. Abate was the beloved wife of the late Carlo Abate. Devoted mother of Rachel Manupelli and her husband Tony, and Vita Abate all of the North End of Boston. Loving grandmother of Maria Coppola and her husband Luciano, Anthony Manupelli and his wife Katy, Tracy Manupelli and Nicole Leo. Loving great grandmother of Rebecca and Rachel Coppola, Anthony, Kayleigh and Matthew Manupelli. Sister of Susie Vultaggio of Somerville.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Thursday at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8.
It has been requested that as an expression of sympathy memorial contributions be made in Martha´s name to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
